So, Dig This Big Crux

The other day I received a wonderfully important email from a publicist — about their hiring of another publicist, something I’m sure I needed to know. Soon, I can hope to receive press releases about press releases, and promo CDs of recordings of label board meetings.

Scott Walker – Use Me (Bill Withers cover, I kid you not)

It’s true. Myself and Cathy (of our parent company, Refused TV) are honored and humbled to have someone as amazing as Sheila come on board; she wants her official title to be “Rock Publicist”. I think I had suggested something like “Super Amazing Publicity Master Boss Dream Maker,” but upon examination, turns out that title was a little too wordy. For those of you unfamiliar with Mrs. Kenny, she has helmed amazing campaigns for the likes of !!!, Dappled Cities, Death Cab For Cutie, Feist, Broken Social Scene, Stars, Tegan & amp; Sara, Matt & Kim, Ra Ra Riot, The Rentals, Shout Out Louds, El Perro Del Mar, AmAnSet, The Album Leaf, Adult., Calexico, British Sea Power, The Notwist, Sasquatch Music Festival, The Hidden Cameras, Jamie Lidell, Apostle of Hustle, Eugene Mirman, Tokyo Police Club, You Say Party! We Say Die!, Land of Talk, Los Campesinos!, Jason Collett, The Most Serene Republic, New Buffalo, Do Make Say Think and others. You can e-mail Sheila at sheila at riot act media dot com.

Both Sheila and I will be at SXSW this year, together, as a master duo not unlike Starsky & Hutch or Cagney & Lacey or Jake & The Fatman. (I get to be The Fatman. If you don’t remember the intro to this show, I highly suggest that you YouTube it.)

For those of you who don’t know, our wonderful and illustrious founder, David Lewis, has taken on an administrative role at Riot Act, as he has accepted a full-time teaching position at Columbia College in Chicago, IL. We couldn’t be happier for him, and though we miss working with him on a day-to-day basis, I am nearly finished painting his gilded “Our Founder” portrait for the office wall. It’s huge.

Soon, our website will reflect all of this…..and, myself and Riot Act associates Amy Heather and Dale Gellerson just may be in touch with you soon regarding follow up on all Riot Act tours, plus Glorytellers, Neva Dinova and BellRays full-length releases.

In the words of Rick Moranis in his “Great White North” character, “Good day.”
